The first mention of Słupiec dates back to the Middle Ages, when small settlements associated with agriculture and forestry existed in this area. For a long time, it was a peripheral area, overshadowed by the developing Nowa Ruda. Everything changed with the discovery and exploitation of hard coal deposits.

From the 18th century, Słupiec began to transform into a mining settlement, and in the 19th century, it entered a phase of intensive industrial development. Mining shafts, processing plants, and railway infrastructure were built, connecting Słupiec with other centers in the region. Mining not only provided employment but also organized social life – workers' housing estates, schools, and public facilities were built.

To this day, you can still see the characteristic building layout from that era – compact groups of houses, often situated near the mines, and more scattered buildings on the outskirts.
