Do rodu Strzałów otmęcka posiadłość należała aż do końca XV wieku. W 1514 roku kupił ją Łukasz Buchta Buchcicki herbu Odrowąż. Nowy właściciel przebudował zamek obronny na renesansową rezydencję szlachecką i uczynił z niej główną siedzibę rodu. Ostatni z otmęckiej linii Buchtów – Jerzy, zmarł w 1608 roku nie pozostawiając męskiego potomka. Zamek, począwszy od wojny trzydziestoletniej (1618-1648) do końca XVII wieku aż dziesięciokrotnie zmieniał właścicieli i w tym czasie mocno podupadł. Gdy w 1839 roku Otmęt zakupił emerytowany major wojsk pruskich Franz von Wyszecki, opuszczony zamek był już kompletną ruiną. Wyszeccy wznieśli nieopodal całkowicie nową rezydencję, zaś ruiny starej zostały wplecione w krajobraz przypałacowego parku. W połowie XIX wieku na terenie ruin przeprowadzono wykopaliska. Liczono m.in. na odkrycie legendarnego tunelu, który miał łączyć otmęcki zamek z oddalonym o pięć kilometrów zamkiem w Rogowie Opolskim. Obie te budowle, według podań ludowych, mieli wznieść rezydujący tutaj w średniowieczu Templariusze. Niestety, oprócz monet i naczyń, w czasie prac nie odnaleziono żadnego tunelu. Nieopodal zamku stoi natomiast jedna z najstarszych świątyń na Śląsku - Kościół Wniebowzięcia Najświętszej Marii Panny. Pierwsza wzmianka o nim pochodzi już z 1223 roku, a sam kościół wzniesiono na wapiennym wzgórzu, w najwyżej położonym punkcie Otmętu (180 m n.p.m.).
How it working
To listen to the history of monuments as part of the "Discover History" project, you need to follow a few simple steps. Below, we present a short, step-by-step "user manual" to provide a relatively simple way to access the mini-auditions.
You need a smartphone with a camera. The camera lens should be pointed at the information plaque located next to the monument. Below is a view of the plaque itself and its example location next to the Karol Musioł monument in Opole.
After pointing your smartphone's camera at the QR code located on the right side of the plaque, the app's welcome screen will appear, followed by a screen with the name, photo of the monument, and the "START" button.
The "START" button starts the audio recording process.
Your smartphone will prompt you with the next steps after you listen to the story or pause it. Please keep an eye on your smartphone screen!
Other available options: brief information about the monument, author of the text and recording, list of other monuments in the city included in the "Discover History" project, downloadable map of monuments, video, and social media links
